Our Saviour’s Name

Letters in Hebrew are:

י   yode or yod ;    ה    hey;    ו   vav ;   ש shin;   ה  hey;  ע   ayin

Yeshua’s original name as given by the angel in Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Yehoshua: for he shall save his people from their sins.

In looking at the Hebrew root of the name of the Father, pronounced Yah-Ho Vah,’ and looking at another scripture, about the Promised One, we see a fulfilment of scripture from the book of Exodus:

Exodus 23:21

“Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions : for my name [is] in him.

In speaking of the Prophet that was to come, YeHoVaH said that His name would be in the name of the Prophet, the one to whom we all must listen and obey.   This is one more proof that Yehoshua (Yeshua) is the fulfilment of the promise in that verse!

In speaking of Yehoshua, we shorten the name to Yeshua,  in the same manner as we shorten James, to Jim.  For more information about Yeshua, and our faith in Him, please please read our Faith Statement!)
