About Cegullah Apologetics Academy:
What is Apologetics? Is it the art of apologizing?
- Apologectics has nothing to do with making an apology! Apologetics, the word, originates from the Greek word apologia, which translates to a formal “speech in defense” of a certain topic. Biblically speaking, Jude, the half brother of Yeshua, and author of a well loved epistle wrote, ““Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Without using the word, apologetics, Jude requested that all believers defend the truth, in this case, the faith as it was delivered unto the saints. That means, untainted, without the add ons or input of individuals and what they think the Word of God says. Today, apologetics, points believers back to the source of the Bible for all biblical teachings. It is a way to ensure believers hold to the basic doctrines of the church without the centuries of add on teachings not sourced in God’s Word
How did Cegullah Apologetics Academy begin?
- Rev. Dr. Jeanne Metcalf taught Bible courses for over 40 years. Her courses of studies, which developed over those 40 years of teaching, were well-loved by her many students. As Jeanne prayed, one day the Holy Spirit began to speak to Jeanne to do more with her materials than teach locally. He wanted more people to learn from those courses. Cegullah Publishing was already up and running for about a year. It was doing well. Jeanne believed the Spirit to lead her to open an academy to teaching the apologetic materials that she had written over the years and of course, publish them through Cegullah Publishing. She already had many students studying with her, but Jeanne believed the Spirit wanted it taken to another level. She was to get accreditation for her materials and with that, offer degrees. Jeanne obeyed the voice of the Spirit. She jumped through the necessary hoops, and before she knew it, Cegullah Apologetics Academy gave to life along with accredited degrees for Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Theology.
Why present Cegullah into two arms, one for publishing and on for academic degrees?
- While Jeanne and some others knew about the formation of Cegullah Publishing & Apologetics Academy, many people did not. In fact, new discoverers of this entity thought Jeanne only ran a business, the business of publishing. In order to shatter the former mindset, it was decided to present Cegullah Publishing and Apologetics Academy as two arms, working together towards the same goal: to feed God’s sheep. In fact, years earlier, Jeanne had a visitation from the Spirit at which point, He called her to “Feed My sheep”. With this goal in mind, Jeanne pushed ahead all these many years to see what God gave her produce fruit for His Kingdom.
What is unique about Cegullah Apologetics Academy?
- If you are looking for an Academy that is “unique” meaning outstanding above all the others, that thinking is dangerous. When you pursue a theology degree or simply wish to learn more about God’s word, and encounter Him, it is better to ask the Spirit His choice in the matter. Be assured, if the Holy Spirit leads you to study with us, you will find that, Cegullah Apologetics Academy, like other academies, offers accredited degrees, and allows students to study as an unaccredited student (audit the course). It, again like some other academies, uses the Inductive Bible Study method to help students learn. That method opens a door for students to study, not to attain information alone, but rather to encounter God through His Word. Like other academies, it also offers apologetics. We present our material’s content in a slightly different manner, which some find easier to embrace, which makes us different in presentation style. Benefits of studying with us rests mostly in the student’s obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit. In other words, if the Spirit draws you to study with us, then you do. When finished, you will have the satisfaction that you obeyed His leading, and will come away with what He desired for you.
Why should I study apologetics?
- Apologetics, or Bible terms, “earnestly contending for the faith once given to the saints”, (Jude 1:3) is call that all believers need to hear. Yeshua said, “take heed, lest no one deceive you”, comes as a strong warning that believers, if unaware of truth, like any other person, can be deceived. Therefore, to study apologetics aligns with both Jude’s advice as well as Yeshua’s warning. Such studies embed truth into the being of believers. When that happens, it gives a good foundation upon which to live out one’s life and express one’s faith life. In today’s world, with so many glossed over things presented as truth, it is good to have a solid, working knowledge of what the Bible really teaches rather than what a person or other source says it teaches. Apologetics is a good means of speaking God’s truth to live it out.
When I study God’s word, what books do I need?
- If no helps are available to the earnest student of the word, God’s Spirit is there to lead and guide you. Yet, to study God’s Word, believer must keep the Bible in a place of authority in their life, learning it as it was written. That means, that along with an understanding of it in its original transcripts, you investigate the truth by going back to the written word to grasp its context, in both its settings and its culture. Special tools such as Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance provide a easy bridge to understand Hebrew and Greek. Other writings, both secular and spiritual, help us to learn about the culture of the time. It is good to remember, that God set in place certain principles in His word which He never violates. Understanding these goes a long way to interpret what the Bible says. It is as scripture teaches, we learn line upon line, precept upon precept. These are all good reasons why we, at Cegullah Publishing & Apologetics Academy love the study the bible inductively. It helps to keep the focus on the word and on the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Why does Cegullah Publishing use Inductive Style teaching?
- When studying God’s Word, the Bible, we believe that those who do, sit in a place ready to learn about God. He says in Proverbs 3:26, “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” When you approach the Bible to learn about its author, you encounter God. Inductive Bible Study techniques, position the student to encounter God and to walk away from their time in the scriptures with more than head knowledge. In other words, if you study the Word of God to get take only information, you miss it. If you come with a cry in your heart to know God, He will hear and answer you. Jeremiah 29: 13 “And you shall seek me, and find [me], when you shall search for me with all your heart.” Inductive Study techniques, if followed in earnest, make it possible for the student to seek God with all their heart and hear Him respond in truth.
