How can studying with Cegullah’s Apologetic Academy help me?
Cegullah’s Apologetic Academy is designed for the person who enjoys learning on their own. If that is not you, we recommend reading the books found at Cegullah Publshing’s Arm. However, if it is you, then we can help you in many ways.
- If you study with us, you are invited to learn at your own speed. You work steadily through the lessons, moving forward one step at a time. This builds discipline in your life.
- If you encounter struggles, you pray or perhaps request our help, but you press on. This builds tenacity in you.
- As you read the scriptures, answer the questions and do the assignments in the workbook, you have opportunity to unite with the Holy Spirit to learn what the scripture means. This builds a working relationship between you and your God and helps to develop and ear to hear His Voice.
- After each workbook lesson is complete, you go to the textbook which builds on the workbook lesson. This, in time, builds confidence in you as it reaffirms what you learned as you did your workbook lessons. You continue in this manner until you complete the course. This confidence which comes from learning, remains with you because it was built in God and not in human beings!
- Upon completion of each course, you celebrate with God for a job well done. This builds encouragement in your life, knowing that with God, all things are possible.
- When you look back on the course you will see how you have grown, especially drawing nearer to God. If you truly partnered with the Holy Spirit, you will smile at the time you spent together with the scriptures. This brings delight to your soul.
- While you praise Him for your growth in understanding His Word, you can rejoice for time well spent with Him. This, too, brings joy into your relationship with God and remember, it pleases God, too.
- When, over time, you reflect upon your experiences with God as you studied, you will recognize how He lead and guided you. He does so because He promises to be with you. This builds a measure of trust between you and God as He always keeps His promises.
Additionally, you need not think it takes something special on your part. It really only takes a heart hungry for God. Your heart enjoys satisfction in the unshakeable relationship you build between you and your Lord and Saviour as you study together.
I’m a person who likes working on my own, and I want everything done quickly. Is Cegullah Apologetics Academy going to work for me?
It is good that you like to work on your own. It sounds, too, like you are motivated to learn. However, doing your lessons quickly may cause you a problem, depending on what you meant by the words, do “everything quickly”. If by quickly you meant rush with each lesson just to get it done, you risk losing the benefit of mediating on the Word, praying about the subject at hand, or waiting on the Holy Spirit. When it comes to spending time with God, it is better not to do so fast paced, with a get-her-done attitude.
Let’s look at it this way. In grocery stores today, fruit for sale often arrives from other countries. Due to the distance and time involved in transporting the fruit, they pick the fruit when it is still green. They often spray it with a chemical, too, to help it ripen slowly. Eventually, when it ripens, we get to eat it but often it is not too enjoyable in comparison to fruit ripened on the vine or on the tree, with the sun basking it within its rays. Bite into that fruit and wow, what a difference. To apply this to the idea of doing everything quickly, if you rush from lesson to lesson just to get it done, you risk missing out on the best part: waiting on the Holy Spirit.
However, if by doing everything quickly, you meant to make the lessons a priorty, working at your own speed, consider that way as ripening fruit in its natural setting. It is good to work steady and strong, following an agenda given by the Holy Spirit. As long as He is in the pace set before you, all is well.
How can I be sure that I won’t get off track or end up out of bounds if I study on my own?
That is a good question to ask, and very wise, too. It shows your sincerity in loving the truth and a desire to avoid error. To answer that question, we have certain safeguards built in our courses. First of all, we always recommend that every new student begin their study with Bible Study Basics. In this course, we outline principles to study God’s Word, known as hermeneutic principles. These are guidelines to help students interpret the Word in context. Next, we have comments and recommendations within the workbooks, such as advice to read scripture before and after the passage understudy. You receive affirmation of what you learned through the textbook. Remember, you do not study alone. We trust the Holy Spirit to give a witness with two or more people. So please discuss your findings with other students of the Word. Additionally, if you are registered with us, you have access for help directly from us. Hopefully, if you follow these guidelines, and you hold a love for the truth in your heart, God will keep you on track.
I never graduated high school. Can I still apply to earn a degree?
Encountering God through His Word and learning to hear His voice is not an academic skill. This falls in the line of developing spiritual skills. So while we just love it when a student has graduated from high school, this is not the deciding factor. We consider a few other things, beyond academic education. We require that all applicants read and communicate in the English language, as at present, it is the only language in which we write our programs. We require a 500 word essay outlining your spiritual goals. This helps us to assess if our program is a good fit for where you are going. Then, no matter your academic education, if you are accepted, you do so on a trial basis, walking through the first three courses. These courses reaffirm your faith foundation and teach you hermeneutic principles. As you take these courses, you see if you are a good fit with us, and we with you. In other words, you can see if we are helping you to reach your spiritual goals, and we will get to know you, what helps you might need, and if our program fits the bill. Then, if all goes well and you met the required grade, you get a wide open door to explore the remaining courses. Hit the link and check out our educational requirements. You may be delightfully surprised!
I’ve been taking these courses for years and just love them! However, I did them unaccredited. Can I use these courses that I have already taken and apply them towards earning a degree?
To give you a short answer, it is “yes”. We have made room for this because the information in the courses are the same for both accredited and unaccredited students. However, to earn credits, you must be willing to meet our accreditation standards:
- To qualify, you must have registered with us, earlier, stating that you were studying unaccredited, or you studied with a teacher registered with us.
- You must submit the required reports the same as other accredited students. Most reports come from questions already completed in the homework and merely require your submission. These are an intricate part of the grading system as on average, they make up 52% of your final mark.
- Lastly, you must write a final exam. A normal exam takes anywhere from three to six hours, depending on the degree for which you apply. That exam makes up the remaining 48%. To earn credits for each course, you must have an overall average of 69%. To continue on to earn credits for another course, you must attain a mark of 75% .
- You must pay the administrative costs for us to mark your reports and exams. (Regarding these expenses, in the past, we found sponsors to help with the finances. Perhaps, if the situation warrants it, we can look for a sponsor for you.)
So, while the short answer is yes, you can see it is not an easy process. Nevertheless, we have students that have gone this route and are doing very well. So, if you wish to go this route, too, please contact us so we can help walk you through it.
How much money does it cost me up front if I decide to take an accredited degree?
To take an accredited degree, you must first be accepted into the academy. To do this, you fill in an application and pay the fee. Presently, that fee, which is unrefundable, costs $125.00 CAD. If you are accepted, you are ready to begin the first three courses. These are done on a trial basis where students see if we are a good fit for them and vica versa. Costs for these three courses vary in price, so it is best to inquire directly with us so we can give you an accurate answer. However, on average the cost without a sponsor is $125.00 CAD per credit hour plus the costs of your materials. This means that your degree, if paid for without a sponsor, costs $15,000 CAD plus your materials. Please note: we allow students to pay on a per course basis.
